Katrien is a writer, social researcher and eternal student (currently completing a PhD in Family Studies from the University of Newcastle). “Georgina and Dad the Dragon” is her first published picture book, illustrated by Blue Mountains artist, Lauren Merrick and published by Little Steps. She was born in the Netherlands, raised on the Big Island of Hawai’i and now lives in Wagga Wagga.
Katrien loves to read, write and listen to the stories of others. She believes public spaces can be playful for everyone, books hold some of the best adventures and is an advocate for silliness in general. Katrien and fellow Wagga Wagga artist, Caroline Candusso formed the ‘Bureau for Tomorrow’s Makers’ and ran two literacy projects with funds from two Wagga Wagga City Council community grants.
If you need something proof-read or edited, Katrien is your gal! If you would like to collaborate on a literacy or playful initiative in your local community, please get in touch.
