Lachlan is the author of two books of poetry, Limited Cities (Giramondo, 2012) and Lunar Inheritance (Giramondo, 2017). He has been shortlisted for various prizes including the Gwen Harwood Poetry Prize, the Blake Poetry Prize, the Peter Porter Poetry Prize and in 2021 he won the Newcastle Poetry Prize. Lachlan has received poetry commissions from the Red Room Company, ABC Everyday and the Powerhouse Museum. His poems have appeared in Australian Book Review, Cordite, The Weekend Australian and fourW.
Lachlan has judged various prizes and awards including the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards. He teaches and researches in literature and creative writing at Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga. Lachlan’s collaborations include work with James Farley (Walking in Isolation, 2022) and Tony Curran (Limiting Entropy, 2016).
Lachlan plays keyboard with The Low Flyers, a jazz group in Wagga Wagga. He has also played for other bands around the region.
