My aim as a public and private commission artist is to achieve a high quality outcome that references a sense of place or place making to its intended audience and or environment. Periods of research, either through community consultation or own referencing which ultimately will affect final design, sometimes monumental in style and scale. My objective is that site specific projects should provoke thought and directly reference their surroundings through either abstract or representational design. A use of robust materials, predominately steel and timber ensure longevity and minimal maintenence life spans. Attention to the making process is as important , in my view, as the design process. Curves that flow and joints that fit add to the works final and lasting aesthetic quality. Being both designer and maker ensures a high quality outcome for all parties involved in the project.
