Tegan Bailey is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist and registered arts therapist based in Wagga Wagga, NSW. Her practice is a sophisticated, tactile layering of acrylic painting, printmaking, collage, and vintage textiles, driven by a process of reflective inquiry. Bailey interrogates the “internal architectures” of the human experience—specifically exploring themes of neurodiversity, bodily autonomy, and the complex societal pressures surrounding motherhood and childlessness.
Driven by her lived experience as an Autistic, Bailey uses her studio practice to bridge the gap between personal expression and collective understanding. Her physical process mirrors a therapeutic journey: she builds her work layer by layer, utilising vibrant acrylic foundations, expressive movement, and the distinct textures of printmaking and collage as a physical metaphor for revisiting and excavating memories.
With a career spanning nearly two decades in education and the arts, Bailey brings a unique dual-lens approach to her work. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (2007), a Bachelor of Teaching (2009), and a Master of Therapeutic Arts Practice from the MIECAT Institute (2025). Alongside her dedicated studio practice, she operates a private art therapy practice (In the Making | Creative Arts Therapy). She works as an Arts Worker at The Art Factory, fostering inclusive creative spaces within the regional community, demonstrating her commitment to accessible art and community development.
