Mona Magazine

Mona is a new community-focused women’s magazine for women who live in regional, rural and remote communities in Australia, and is completely authored and produced by these women. We believe there is more to talk than the Australian media represents and our focus is on publishing stories that reflect the diversity of the Riverina, including women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, First Nations women, women living with disabilities or other challenges, young women and women from a variety of age and socio-economic brackets.

We are not driven by profit, we are driven by women and their stories, and therefore, we don’t accept advertising.

We want to meet, listen to and help women share their stories with the world. We will come to towns in the Riverina to consult with women about their stories, interests, skills and the stories and issues they want to read about in a magazine about them and for them. We offer free workshops in regions around Griffith, Leeton and Narrandera to help women develop their ideas, stories and art to then submit for publishing, if they choose.

The first edition of the magazine was produced by the Mona team and published in August 2021. The second issue will be released in April 2022, and submissions are NOW OPEN for non-fiction, fiction and artwork and can be submitted via our website or email.
